Effect of sex and type of diet on daily gains in body measurements and on growth of young fattening cattle in relation to height at withers and bodyweight from 5 to 11 months old

Poljoprivredna Znanstvena Smotra 42: 193-209

The fattening trial began with 44 bullocks and 85 heifers of Simmental type in 8 groups, but after a preliminary period of 3 weeks the numbers were reduced to 39 and 70 and 4 more were eliminated from the trial later. The feeds were meadow hay of two qualities, poor and good, and a concentrate mixture based on maize grain and ears, lucerne and meat meals and urea; 3 groups of cattle were fed only on the concentrate and 5 groups had hay to supply from 4.4 to 11.1% of the feed units.
