Effect of sex and type of diet on growth of young Simmental cattle from 5 to 11 months old

Effect of sex and type of diet on growth of young Simmental cattle from 5 to 11 months old

Poljoprivredna Znanstvena Smotra 42: 295-313

The feeding trial was that described in the preceding abstracts. Rate of growth in all body measurements except hip width was greater between 5 and 8 months than between 8 and 11 months of age. On average bullocks gained in all measurements 22.6% faster in the first and 9.7% faster in the second half, or 12.2% overall, than heifers. Heifers ceased to grow earlier than bullocks and fattening of heifers should finish correspondingly earlier.
