Friesian and Jersey heifers in the first year and Sahiwal X Friesian and Sahiwal X Jersey in the 2nd had, at stocking rates 7.4, 9.9 and 12.4/ha, average growth rates of 0.50, 0.43, 0.37 and 0.62, 0.56, 0.51 kg/day, respectively. Each heifer got 1.4 kg maize daily in the 2nd year. Anthelmintic treatment had no significant effect. Friesians grew faster than Jerseys but the difference between crossbreds was not significant.
