Effect of trace elements in the form of FTE on the yield of fodder legumes and N2 fixation

In pot trials with Stylosanthes guyanensis and Centrosema pubescens in a soil deficient in trace elements, seed was pelleted with CaCO3 or CaSO4 with or without addition of fritted trace elements (FTE) to the pellet or FTE were applied to the soil. FTE were more effective in pellets of CaCO3 than in those of CaSO4. Application of FTE to the soil had a greater effect than inclusion in the pellet. It was shown that the presence of roots played a part in the solubilization of FTE.
