Effect of ultrasonics on the spore of Nosema apis Zander

Spores (A) were washed in distilled water and stored at 4 deg C for at least 2 months; spores (B) were freshly removed from diseased bees. Both categories were subjected to sounds at a frequency of 1000 kH. When subjected to 4 W/cm2 for 2.5-5 min or 8 W/cm2 for 2.5 min, 25-40% of spores A were destroyed; at 8 W/cm2 for 5-7 min, 60% were killed; at 8 W/cm2 for 10-12.5 min, 60-75% were killed.
