Effect of uranyl acetate on microbial fixation of nitrogen in presence of lanthanum sulphate

Uranyl acetate (100 .mu.M) increased the fixation of N in the presence of 25 .mu.M of lanthanum sulfate in the culture media. Further increase of lanthanum sulfate in culture media having 100 .mu.M uranyl acetate shows a decrease to different extents in the 3 samples of microorganisms [Azotobacter sp.]. The bacterial sample A3 shows this decrease to a large extent.
