Effect of various rates of nitrogen fertilizers on yields and quality of several light tobacco varieties

Effect of various rates of nitrogen fertilizers on yields and quality of several light tobacco varieties

Biuletyn Centralnego Laboratorium Przemyslu Tytoniowego (1/2): 7-20

In field trials in 1970-2 on sandy soils, tobacco Virginia Lubelka, Virginia Skroniowska 78 and Virginia Kazimierska were either unfertilized or were given 20 t f.y.m./ha alone or in combination with 20, 30 or 45 kg N + 120 kg P2O5 + 180 kg K2O/ha. In 1 treatment given high N, f.y.m. was omitted. The optimum rate of applied N was generally 20 or 30 kg/ha. 45 kg N/ha increased leaf yields but decreased the percentage of high-quality leaf.
