Effect of varying weather conditions on the persistence of three herbicides in soil

Effect of varying weather conditions on the persistence of three herbicides in soil

Proceedings 1976 British Crop Protection Conference Weeds (Vol.2): 635-642

When prometryne, simazine and propyzamide were incubated in a sandy loam soil at 23-25 deg C and 12-14% soil moisture, the times for 50% loss of the three herbicides were 30, 37 and 29 days respectively. The effects of temp. on the rates of loss were also similar for the different compounds, but a reduction in soil m.c. decreased the rate of degradation of prometryne more than that of simazine or propyzamide.
