300-g samples of vegetative or reproductive growth of perennial ryegrass S24 were allowed to dry outdoors in very good weather with or without dipping for 60 s in CCl4 at 50 deg C. Samples were confined to an area of 0.1 m2 and were weighed and turned hourly.
