Effect of water depth in net cages on the growth and body shape of Tilapia mossambica



Bulletin of the Freshwater Fisheries Research Laboratory, Tokyo 26(1): 11-19



Fish were reared in net cages with water depths 25, 50, 75, 100 and 150 cm. Their growth (body width and length) and the number of spawnings were compared over 4 months. Body depth (corrected for effects of body length) increased with increasing water depth, but body length was significantly greater only at 150 cm depth. Spawning was more frequent in the cages of more than 75 cm depth.
