Effect of water on growth and nutrient uptake of pineapple

MARDI Research Bulletin 2(2): 31-49

Pineapples, Masmerah, were grown under waterlogged conditions or with water-tables maintained at 18, 33, 48 or 76 cm from the soil surface. In another experiment they were watered daily, weekly or monthly to rainfall equivalent levels of 0, 0.8, 1.6 or 2.4 cm. Waterlogging affected growth and nutrient uptake adversely; the best water-table level was 48 cm from the surface. Vegetative growth responded to increasing frequency and level of watering.
