Laboratory experiments were made to determine the allelopathic activity (expressed in arbitrary coumarin units) of extracts from Albizia julibrissin, Catalpa bignonioides, Tilia cordata, Aesculus hippocastanum, Sophora japonica and Pinus nigra, and to investigate their effect in inhibiting or stimulating the germination of seeds of P. nigra, S. japonica, C. bignonioides and C. japonica.
