Effect of weaning on milking time in buffaloes

48 buffaloes, aged 3-11 yr and in lactations 1-9, were allotted to 3 groups in which calves were weaned at 3 days or 7-9 mth of age, or not at all. Over a 16-day period, milking time in the 3 groups averaged 423.35, 281.69 and 330.41 s resp. (P<0.01), milk yield/milking 3.5, 2.5 and 3.4 kg, and milking time/kg milk 121.0, 112.7 and 97.2 s.
