Effect of weather conditions on the concentration of virulence genes in Puccinia recondita Rob. et Desm

The effect of temperature and relative humidity was studied on the germination rate and degree of penetration of the uredospores in 30-70 isolates from one variety each of Triticum durum, T. aestivum and T. compactum in relation to the virulence gene involved. Germination and penetration in isolates carrying P2, P3A and P17 decreased in durum wheat at higher temperatures, but rose in isolates carrying P24.
