Effect of weed control methods on winter wheat yields as affected by sowing rate and level of nitrogen fertilization

In field experiments in 1969-73 on brown-black soils in Poznan previously under winter rape, the effect of weed control on yields of winter wheat sown at 160, 190 or 220 kg/ha and given 60 or 100 kg N/ha was examined. Weed control treatments were (a) no cultivations, (b) 2 passes with a harrow or (c) use of terbutryne. Weed incidence was least in (c) and greatest in (a), while grain yields of wheat were 3.63, 3.85 and 4.11 t/ha for (a), (b) and (c), respectively.
