Effect of worming, of adding copper sulphate to food and of eliminating light from pig-sties on the results of intensive fattening of pigs (preliminary studies)

Effect of worming, of adding copper sulphate to food and of eliminating light from pig-sties on the results of intensive fattening of pigs (preliminary studies)

Medycyna Weterynaryjna 28(6): 345-348

Tests on pig fattening plants at Pieszyce in Poland showed that (i) a single treatment against nematodes of 12 g/animal of phenothiazine and 0.3 g/kg body-weight of piperazine adipate increased the daily weight gains by 137 g/pig in the following 3 months; (ii) the addition to food of 3 g/100 kg/day of copper sulphate similarly increased daily weight gains by 150 g/pig; (iii) that joint application of both these measures did not further increase weight gains; and (iv) that eliminating light from pigsties (but retaining good ventilation) was not detrimental to pigs and increased daily weight gains by 75 g/pig.
