Effect of xylitol on the growth of three oral strains of Candida albicans

Increasing concs. of xylitol in glucose medium slightly decreased the max yield of 3 strs. of C. albicans isolated from women after omission of oral hygiene for 28 h, after 72 h incubation. However, growth rate in 5% xylitol and 0.2% glucose was similar to that in glucose alone.
