Effect on lamb production of crossing Sicilian with Ile-de-France and Texel sheep

For Sicilian, Ile-de-France X Sicilian, and Texel X Sicilian lambs (10 males and 10 females /group), live weight averaged 4.22, 4.88 and 4.86 kg at birth and 31.94, 36.45 and 34.81 kg at 133 days of age. Daily gain from birth to slaughter at 133 days averaged 208.4, 237.3 and 225.1 g, and food conversion efficiency (FU/kg gain) from 43 to 133 days averaged 4.43, 4.12 and 3.91, the performance of the crossbreds being significantly better than that of the purebreds.
