Effect on lambing percentage of flushing local type forest ewes

Effect on lambing percentage of flushing local type forest ewes

Ghana, Animal Research Institute: Annual report, 1975/76: ; 14, 41-43

Flushing 30 ewes with maize + maize-cob meal + molasses, wheat bran + molasses or wheat bran mixed with groundnut cake for 8 wk, starting 5 wk before the mating season, did not improve lambing rates in comparison with non-flushed controls, although live-weight gains were greater in the lambs of flushed ewes than in those of non-flushed ewes.
