For 14 days, to 30 to 35 kg bodyweight, a rearing feed was supplied to 90 pigs and thereafter a fattening feed. Both were based on cereals and soya bean oilmeal and had a mineral mixture with no Cu. Supplementary Cu, 180 to 200 mg/kg feed, was given as CuSO4, CuO or elemental Cu. Cu was most in liver and in intestinal contents and absorption of it was greatest from CuSO4. CuSO4 increased the proportion of oleic acid in depot fat; other forms of Cu had little effect.
