Effect on the genotype of seed and the sporophyte on the protein content of seed in bread wheat (T. aestivum L.)

Effect on the genotype of seed and the sporophyte on the protein content of seed in bread wheat (T. aestivum L.)

Cereal Research Communications 4(1): 51-54

In a comparison of the grain from crosses and reciprocals between UP302 (high protein content) and Kalyan Sona (low protein content) with the selfed grains of each, the grain protein content was the same in UP302 selfed as in UP302 X Kalyan Sona and was the same in Kalyan Sona selfed as in Kalyan Sona X UP302. The grain protein content was higher where UP302 was the mother plant than where Kalyan Sona was the mother plant.
