Effects of CO2 nutrition on growth and yield of muskmelon (Cucumis melo L.), egg-plant (Solanum melongena L.) and sweet-pepper (Capsicum annuum L.)


, : Effects of CO2 nutrition on growth and yield of muskmelon (Cucumis melo L.), egg-plant (Solanum melongena L.) and sweet-pepper (Capsicum annuum L.). Acta Horticulturae (51): 201-211

During the winter CO2 enrichment at 1000 p.p.m. plus additional illumination retarded the growth of muskmelon shoots but stimulated the growth of eggplant shoots. An increase in eggplant leaf size was also observed. The treatment improved eggplant and capsicum fruit set and the plants yielded twice as much as the control plants. In spring trials without additional illumination similar results were obtained with all 3 crops and some earliness was also obtained.
