Abstract
During the winter CO2 enrichment at 1000 p.p.m. plus additional illumination retarded the growth of muskmelon shoots but stimulated the growth of eggplant shoots. An increase in eggplant leaf size was also observed. The treatment improved eggplant and capsicum fruit set and the plants yielded twice as much as the control plants. In spring trials without additional illumination similar results were obtained with all 3 crops and some earliness was also obtained. In muskmelons CO2 given during the entire growing period advanced cropping by 10 days.
