Effects of a single dose of mebendazole on the microfilaraemia of 50 carriers of Wuchereria bancrofti var. pacifica microfilariae

Of 34 carriers of Wuchereria bancrofti var. pacifica given a single 400 mg dose of mebendazole 4 became negative for microfilariae, in 5 the count remained stationary and in 4 it increased during the next 120 days. The mean count diminished from 29 microfilariae/20mm3 at the start to 17.6 on the 60th day. Toxic effects were slight.
