Effects of a single height gene (Dw3) of sorghum on certain agronomic characters

Crop Science 15(4): 595-597

Nearly isogenic lines of Martin, Plainsman, Redlan and Tx403, homozygous for the dominant and recessive allele of Dw3, were compared with heterozygous lines produced from crosses of each short line with its tall counterpart. Data on height and other agronomic traits were analysed. Height influenced total yield, test weight, panicles per plant and kernel weight. Cultivar X height interactions affected height, test weight and kernel weight.
