Effects of dietary fibers on liver lipid accumulation in chicks

Effects of dietary fibers on liver lipid accumulation in chicks

Japanese Journal of Zootechnical Science 48(10): 554-562

Chickens were maintained on a commercial feed for 14 days and then, in one trial, a purified fibre-free diet and, in 2, a semipurified diet with 0.5%. Experimental groups were given the purified or semipurified diet with 4% cellulose or the semipurified with 4% citrus pectin or konjac mannan. The trials lasted 54, 32 and 19 days. Cellulose did not affect weight gain, but pectin or mannan reduced it.
