Effects of frequency and height of cutting on the yield, composition and quality of the herbage of grass only and grass-legume mixtures

Effects of frequency and height of cutting on the yield, composition and quality of the herbage of grass only and grass-legume mixtures

Annual Report, Division of Livestock and Pastures, 1974-75: 145-149

Hyparrhenia filipendula was or was not oversown with (a) Stylosanthes guyanensis Fine-stem or (b) Macroptilium atropurpureum Siratro and in the 3rd growing season was cut at heights of 4 or 12 cm at intervals of 2, 4, 8 or 16 weeks. Total yields of herbage and DDM increased progressively with increase in harvest interval, but CP yields were highest with 4- and 8-week intervals.
