Effects of nosebar figure in the thick veneer cutting. (1). Cutting load on both the knife and the bar

Effects of nosebar figure in the thick veneer cutting. (1). Cutting load on both the knife and the bar

Mokuzai Kogyo Wood Industry 32(4): 15-19

Double-surfaced pressure bars were made by grinding a secondary face on a sharpened pressure bar, at an angle equal to the cutting angle (23 deg 45'). Pressure bars with secondary faces 0.0 (i.e. a sharpened pressure bar), 0.3, 0.6 and 1.5 mm in width were tested, and compared with a roller bar, in cutting veneer from Betula maximowicziana wood with a depth of cut of 6.0 mm.
