For 373 Polish Black-and-White Lowland cows, sired by 30 bulls, the correlations of milk production for the first 100 days of their 1st lactation with various traits were as follows: the max. daily yield in the first 100 days, 0.90; 305-day milk yield, 0.85; the percentage difference between the max. and the av. daily yield for the first 100 days, 0.28; milk fat production for the first 100 days, 0.87; milk fat production for 305 days, 0.79; milk protein production for the first 100 days, 0.90; milk protein production for 305 days, 0.79; SNF production for the first 100 days, 0.93; SNF production for 305 days, 0.77.
