In April 1974, a severe outbreak of Panonychus citri (McG.), a species only recently discovered in Brazil, occurred on citrus at Tatui, in the state of Sao Paulo, Excellent control (94-100% reduction in the numbers of leaf samples taken up to 23 days after treatment) was afforded by sprays containing ethion (applied at 1 kg/ha, each tree receiving 0.5 litres spray liquid), prothoate at 0.76 kg/ha, omethoate at 2 kg/ha), binapacryl at 0.8 kg/ha or bromopropylate (Neoron) at 0.625 kg/ha.
