Abstract
Groups of 10, 11 and 9 half-sib males were fattened from 70 to 400, 500 or 600 kg body weight resp. For the 3 groups resp., daily gain during fattening averaged 956, 928 and 957 g, daily gain/day of age 526, 521 and 547 g, and food consumption/kg gain 3000, 3339 and 3480 g starch equivalent. Correlations among fattening characters for each of the end fattening weights are tabulated. Daily gain during fattening was correlated with food consumption/kg gain (-0.93 to -0.99; P<0.001) and with daily gain/day of age (0.74-0.90, P<0.001).
