(Cf. preceding abstract) Describes field studies to test the effectiveness of chloropicrin, Vapam and Vorlex in stopping internal decay in Douglas Fir transmission poles previously pressure-treated with pentachlorophenol in heavy oil. Two pints of the fumigants were placed in 7 holes within 3 feet of the ground line of each pole in 1969, and changes in the fungal population were measured annually.
