A summary account of experience in the Archangel region of N. Russia on raising seedlings of Pine and Spruce in large plastic greenhouses (volume 1.8 m3 per m2) and small plastic greenhouses (volume 1.2 m3 per m2). The substrates used were fen peat or mineral soil, with and without fertilizers. Data are tabulated on seed germination and seedling dimensions compared with results in open seedbeds.
