3. From 8 days old Friesian calves in 2 groups of 7 were given milk substitute, a total of 25 kg milk powder distributed over 33 days in increasing amounts. From the second week concentrate and hay were offered freely. For one group the milk substitute was in one daily feed and for the other in 2. Average daily gains to 72 days of age were 0.791 and 0.732 kg with feeding once or twice daily.
