Growth, respiration and endogenous auxins of developing and germinating seeds of pigeon pea (Cajanus indicus Spreng)

The activity of endogenous auxins and their nature of association with growth and respiration of different parts of developing and germinating seeds of C. indicus were studied. In the developing seed, the maximum dry weight of seed preceded the maximum amounts of respiration and auxins, indicating their involvement and utilization during synthesis and accumulation of reserve substances in the embryo.
