The Missouri Partitional Calorimeter, equipped with a controlled-temperature floor, was used to make the determinations. Data were collected simultaneously on floor temperature and on the dissipation of animals' heat in the form of conductive heat transferred to the floor, and of the latent heat and sensible heat (radiation plus convection) transferred to the enviroment.
