Seeds of the line F7T containing the Texas male sterile cytoplasm factor were exposed to gamma rays or soaked in 2.5 g/l ethyl methyl sulphonate. As a result plants resistant to H. maydis (Cochliobolus heterostrophus) race T were produced. By screening resistant plants in the M3, using a culture filtrate of the fungus or inoculation with conidia, 6 families completely resistant under field conditions were isolated.
