Heredity and characteristics of sources of resistance to Helminthosporium maydis race T, obtained by mutagenesis in maize with Texas male sterile cytoplasm

Seeds of the line F7T containing the Texas male sterile cytoplasm factor were exposed to gamma rays or soaked in 2.5 g/l ethyl methyl sulphonate. As a result plants resistant to H. maydis (Cochliobolus heterostrophus) race T were produced. By screening resistant plants in the M3, using a culture filtrate of the fungus or inoculation with conidia, 6 families completely resistant under field conditions were isolated.
