Histochemistry of non-specific phosphatase in the bovine uterus

Histochemistry of non-specific phosphatase in the bovine uterus

Veterinariya, Moscow, USSR (10): 61-64

The ovaries and uterus of 12 pregnant and 29 nonpregnant cows were examined, and alkaline and acid phosphatase activity was estimated in strips of myometrium. Since a relationship was found between high nonspecific phosphatase activity, infertility and the appearance of corpora lutea and follicles in the ovaries, it is suggested high uterine phosphatase activity may disturb ovarian hormone function, which in turn leads to proliferative and destructive changes in the uterus.
