Histological changes in the tissues of immature Fasciola hepatica caused by the action of bithionol and Zanil

The histological changes caused by Zanil and bithionol in Fasciola hepatica are described from flukes obtained from rabbits experimentally infected with F. hepatica adolescariae and given Zanil emulsion at 0.5 ml/kg body-weight by intubation or bithionol at 200 ml/kg with food 5 or 9 weeks after infection. Severe tissue changes were observed 24 hours after worming; 9 week-old flukes were more sensitive to both preparations: their tissues were completely destroyed in 48 hours.
