Histopathological observations of coffee roots parasitized by Meloidogyne exigua Goeldi, 1887

Histopathological observations of coffee roots parasitized by Meloidogyne exigua Goeldi, 1887

Trabalhos apresentados a II reuniao de nematologia, Piracicaba, Brazil, 14-16 Setembro 1976, Sociedade Brasileira de Nematologia et da Escola Superior de Agricultura "Luiz de Queiroz", USP, Publicacao No 2: 207-229

Many large egg masses in the cortex, vigorous syncytia and the absence of necrosis around the giant cells in the root tissue indicated that the coffee Mundo Novo was very susceptible to Meloidogyne exigua. The heads of the females were embedded in the stele, the bodies in the cortex and, although more than one female was often present in one gall, each was associated with a single group of giant cells.
