Histopathology of Dasychira mendosa Hb. (Lepidoptera: Lymantriidae) infected with nuclear polyhedrosis virus

Histopathology of Dasychira mendosa Hb. (Lepidoptera: Lymantriidae) infected with nuclear polyhedrosis virus

Current Science 44(16): 591-592

Following an epizootic of a nuclear polyhedrosis virus in Dasychira mendosa (Hb.) in India, the histopathology of fourth- and fifth-instar larvae at different stages of infection was studied. The most susceptible tissues were found to be the fat-body, hypodermis, tracheal matrix, nerve cells and blood cells, and symptoms of infection could be observed in the first 48-72 h after inoculation.
