Homologous series of variation in the characters of forest trees

Homologous series of variation in the characters of forest trees

Nauch tr Kazakhsk NII les kh va (8): 182-187

A five-year study of polymorphism in several poplar species revealed an almost complete coincidence of variation series in Populus laurifolia, P. pilosa, P. simonii and P. talassica. The largest number of characters in which this coincidence in variation was not found occurred in P. talassica. Compared with some species of the black poplar, P. nigra showed an incomplete variation series; its populations contained no biotypes with pubescent vegetative or reproductive organs.
