How do Ohio farmers choose hybrid seed corn?

How do Ohio farmers choose hybrid seed corn?

Publication Department of Agricultural Economics and Rural Sociology, Ohio State University; (ESO 358): 4

Maize is the most important cash crop and feed grain in the USA. The cash value of the part of the crop marketed in 1975 was $491 million. Farmers in Ohio spend about $32 million per year on seed, a major part of this being on hybrid maize seed. The seed market is divided between a few large national companies and many small local companies. A survey by mail of 1,900 Ohio farmers (with a 19% response) sought to identify factors affecting farmers' purchasing habits.
