In trials in 1969-72, average grain yields of 3 winter wheat cultivars given 4 kg Tribunil ha in autumn, winter or spring were, respectively, 11.0, 6.5 and 4.3% higher than untreated controls. 4 kg Tribunil/ha applied at various seedling development stages until just before emergence did not cause plant injury or decrease grain yield in winter wheat, winter rye or winter barley. Post-emergence applications until the leaf was 3 cm long caused no significant grain yield loss in winter wheat or winter barley, but caused slight plant injury in winter barley and 15% plant injury in winter rye.
