% of fore right, fore left, hind right and hind left quarters with subclinical mastitis (positive rapid mastitis test, >500 000 cells/ml milk, and positive bacteriological test) were respectively for Bulgarian Brown cows (1622 quarters) 13.1, 15.7, 37.0 and 34.0; for Bulgarian Simmental cows (684 quarters), 21.9, 19.9, 26.9 and 31.3; for Bulgarian Red cows (526 quarters), 20.9, 21.9, 26.9 and 30.2; for Iskur cows (79 quarters) 17.7, 19.0, 29.1 and 34.2; and for Black Pied cows (201 quarters) 18.9, 21.9, 30.8 and 38.4.
