Inclusion of molassed beet pulp in grass silage; use by dairy cows

Two silages were made from the same ryegrass, one with dried molassed beet pulp at 60 kg/tonne and the other with formic acid at 3.2 litres/tonne. Cows were given the silage made with beet pulp or the other silage with a corresponding amount of beet pulp given separately. Milk production and milk fat were slightly more for the group given beet pulp separately. Intakes also were slightly but not significantly greater.
