Incorporation of acetate-1-12C into lipids of the ovaries & the fat body of the cockroach Periplaneta americana (Linn.) during oocyte development

The incorporation of acetate labelled with 14C into the lipids of the fat-body and ovaries of Periplaneta americana (L.) was studied in females during early and late oogenesis and in vitro and fat-body and ovaries dissected from such females. The amount that became incorporated into the fat-body of living females doubled between 60 and 240 min after injection, then started to fall, whereas the amount in the ovaries rose steadily for 60 to 360 min.
