Seeds of rice Norin No.23 were sown in non-flooded pots (10 X 10 X 12 cm) at 3 or 7 cm depth and grown for 16 days at 15, 20 or 25 deg C. Germination was faster at 25 deg than 20 deg , but after 13 days rate of seedling emergence at these temp. were similar; no seedling emergence occurred at 15 deg , and plumule length, although increased with increased sowing depth, was shorter than in the other pots.
