Deviation from classical Michaelis-Menten kinetics, as exemplified by abrupt downward breaks from the anticipated linearity usually obtained in double reciprocal plots, was observed for glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase from lactating rat mammary glands (excised 15 days post partum) and from R3230AC rat mammary carcinoma. These biphasic kinetics occurred when glucose-6-phosphate was the varied substrate, but linear kinetics were obtained when NADP was the varied substrate.
