Maize breeding in Cameroon

Maize breeding in Cameroon

Agronomie Tropicale 31(3): 284-285

Of several composite varieties currently under study for resistance to Cochliobolus heterostrophus, for earliness, for shortness or for high-lysine content, the local composite COLA, deriving from selection within local ecotypes, and the new variety Z290, deriving from mass selection within a nine-entry bulk from Madagascar, both gave higher yields in trials than present local varieties.
