In the lowlands of the Georgian SSR the first work on the production of late inbred lines and interline hybrids from them began in 1956. By inbreeding and selection over 8-11 generations, 100 stable inbred lines with useful economic characters were produced. Between 1960 and 1971 late variety-line and double interline hybrids were bred.
